A community for healing, connection, and resilience in healthcare

For those who care for others—it's time we care for you.

Hey, I’m Dr. Ashley

Welcome to the Code Lavender Community!

I'm so glad you're here. My name is Dr. Ashley D’Elia, and I created this space as a sanctuary for healthcare professionals navigating burnout, compassion fatigue, or simply in need of a moment to breathe. Code Lavender is more than just a support network—it's a growing, collaborative community designed to foster real connection, relaxed conversation, and authentic healing among like-minded individuals who truly understand the journey.

With over 20 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, I bring a rich blend of clinical insight, compassionate leadership, and deep-rooted advocacy to this community. My background spans Women and Children’s Services, Emergency Medical Services, Public Health, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives—alongside experience in both administration and academia. I’ve had the privilege of leading diverse teams, mentoring future nurse leaders, and driving initiatives that put people and purpose at the heart of healthcare.

I’m a proud, doctorally-prepared nurse and lifelong learner with a special passion for education, having spent years shaping the next generation of nurses through evidence-based teaching, mentorship, and leadership development.

Outside of my professional life, I’m also the proud mother of four amazing children and share my home with two lovable dogs who bring joy and chaos in equal measure.

Check out the Code Lavender Podcast and follow along on social media as we explore the real talk of self-care, burnout, leadership, and what it means to stay whole in a profession that demands so much. Whether you're a student, a new nurse, or a seasoned healthcare leader, know this: you are not alone—and you matter here.

Self Care

Self Care

Self Care

Self-care is essential in combating stress and burnout, especially in our fast-paced world. Engaging in self-care is not a luxury but a necessity for maintaining mental, emotional, and physical health. There are various strategies individuals can incorporate into their daily lives to alleviate stress and prevent burnout.

Mindfulness and Meditation

Practicing mindfulness or meditation can significantly reduce stress levels. Taking just a few minutes daily to focus on breathing and present thoughts can help clear the mind and lower anxiety. Guided meditation apps can be a resource to start this practice, providing structure and ease for beginners.

Physical Activity

Regular physical activity is a powerful tool against stress. Exercise releases endorphins, which improve mood and promote a sense of well-being. Whether it’s a brisk walk, yoga, or an intense workout, finding an enjoyable form of exercise can make a significant difference.

Adequate Sleep

Quality sleep is critical for restoring energy and enhancing cognitive function. Aiming for 7–9 hours of sleep per night can help regulate mood and reduce fatigue. Establishing a calming bedtime routine and a consistent sleep schedule can promote better sleep habits.

Healthy Nutrition

Eating nutritious foods fuels the body and mind. A balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins can improve overall well-being and provide the energy needed to cope with stress. Staying hydrated also plays a crucial role in maintaining optimal functioning.

Social Connections

Building and maintaining social connections is vital for emotional support. Engaging with friends, family, or peer support groups allows individuals to share experiences and feelings, which can alleviate feelings of isolation and provide different perspectives on stressors.

Setting Boundaries

Learning to say no and setting boundaries is crucial for preserving energy and preventing burnout. Recognizing personal limits and communicating them respectfully helps to manage workload and expectations.

Creative Outlets

Engaging in creative activities like art, music, or writing can serve as a powerful form of self-expression and stress relief. Allowing oneself to explore creativity helps to divert attention from stressors and can lead to a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction.

Regular Breaks

Incorporating regular breaks throughout the day can prevent mental fatigue. Short breaks can rejuvenate the mind, improving focus and efficiency when returning to tasks.

Seeking Professional Support

When stress becomes overwhelming, seeking support from a mental health professional can provide additional strategies and coping mechanisms. Therapy can offer a safe space to explore feelings and develop personalized self-care plans.

Incorporating these self-care strategies into daily routines can effectively combat stress and reduce the risk of burnout. It's important to remember that self-care is an ongoing process, requiring regular attention and adaptation to individual needs. Prioritizing self-care is a proactive step towards a healthier, more balanced life.

A Real Community

At Code Lavender, we believe wholeheartedly in the transformative power of real conversations, the strength of community, and the importance of creating safe, inclusive spaces for all individuals. We recognize that stress can be a powerful force—one that can drive growth or lead to exhaustion—and we understand just how deeply it impacts our personal and professional lives.

Our mission is to build a supportive and empowering community where healthcare professionals and caregivers can come together to learn, share, and heal. Through open dialogue, meaningful connection, and evidence-based education, we aim to actively combat the harmful effects of burnout and the constant hustle of daily life.

We believe there is something profoundly healing about knowing you're not alone. The confidence and belonging that come from being part of a collective are unmatched—and it’s that sense of shared experience that fuels our work. At Code Lavender, anyone is welcome to contribute, reflect, and grow alongside others. By supporting one another, we don’t just improve individual well-being—we elevate the entire community, together.
